Audience

Smite is a pc game so I decided that I would create the animation for the same target audience which is PC gamers. Another part of the target audience is people interested in myths and legends such as gods, demi-gods and deities

In terms of age the game is more targeted and 13-20 years old soon as the game is action pact the and the last type of audience that are interested in this kind of game is people interested in 3rd person games

Soon as smite is the only 3rd person M.O.B.A that is on the current market it will be likely that it captures attention of many people that play M.O.B.A games

It doesn't aim at a specific gender when it comes to audience soon as it has a mix of both genders of gods and goddesses and the style is pretty neutral

As a result to the the style of the game and its target audience I made my animation to be able to attract people that are aged 13-20 that play PC games that are either M.O.B.A players or 3rd person gamers
that like fast paced games.

final trailer and evaluation

This is my final animation

After the presentation my feedback was mainly to get more organised because if it were a professional presentation I wouldn't get paid .The reason for this is that when I tried to open my trailer in after effects it didn't have the required files , the only form of ideas generation that was there was a mood board.
I could have improved my presentation by adding more content to the animations such as : my mind map, my storyboard , experimentation ,  researching artists , show more inspiration
The final trailer wasn't what I had originally wanted it to look like I wanted to animate a fight between 4 gods however I didn't have the time to produce this. If I had more time I would draw the gods and draw all of them in and make them fight.

To make this happen I should have made a time-scale if I had made one I would have been able to create the story I original wanted to make.

some things that went well with this unit are that I was able to add sound correctly in times , I was able to adjust to realizing my lack of time to be able to complete my original animation idea some things that went well are That I produced an animation with having to change the idea so late.

in the end my animation was done using after affects and I used the key frames and timers to create my animation I had experimented in using the puppet pin tool for my animation and it didn't work due to the fact that the image kept getting distorted  and ruining to image so I had to undo the puppet pin and use key frames and position

I disliked that I hadn't experiment that much on the frame by frame or rotoscoping however I know that if I experimented on the rotoscope for too long it would take more time out of the main animation

frame by frame

what is frame by frame ? Frame by frame is a form of animation that uses key frames to tell a story or animate a scene this is done by drawing the scene that you need and then change the next frame to be able to show the change.
the advantages are : gets fast movement  looks good  and  a simple way to add to the animation

the disadvantages : may get distorted easily , takes a while to do and sometimes can't get the movement to look right

this is my frame by frame animation it is very short but it was mainly an experimenting in different techniques. this one was created by drawing the dark alley and then onion skinning to be able to erase some movement and draw in the next motion

Character development

The character that had inspired my design were:
Agent 47

agent 47 had inspired me in this design he has a dangerous look to him that comes by simply looking sharp
his weapons are two silver " ATM hard baller's "
he is employed to kill mainly police , FBI agents and CIA
This is a drawing of my character he is a member of the Mafia. I chose for him to have a top heavy look because that emphasises his upper body strength in order to protect the head of the family. His name I had given him was George Bloodston.

George's bio : George is a member of the Mafia he used to live a normal life until a accident happened
to his wife he was having a stroll down the street with his wife and they seen the police beating a man to a pulp and his wife stepped in and the police changed on to her and they shot her on the spot .
George grew into a dark rage he blacked out after killing the 3 policemen and when he woke up he was in a dark room that happened to be the man's house the man noticed he was awake and came to see him surprised he was up and got him something to eat and explain the situation
turns out the man he saved was a head of the Mafia he was alone because negotiations had failed with a nearby family about land and the police noticed his face and started beating him with their weapons until they stepped in and he told George his wife was dead and he asked George to be his body guard.
George had to think for a while but accepted it was then that he told him his name was Donald Angelini
named after his father however he hasn't as lucky in fact the exact opposite.

In the end I decided to not include him in my animation due to the fact that my game that my animation involves is gods and deities and I had decided this after creating this character and I wouldn't have time to create a game based of him in time to include him for the animation

If I were to design another character I would like to pay more attention to the anatomy due to the fact his body shape doesn't look quite accurate his fingers are too short, the arms are way to big on the shoulders and the legs look more like stumps also his feet look different shapes

sound

These are the sounds I researched and decided to include in my animation because they suited what I was planning on creating for my animation  soon as I had originally planned for a fight I planned to also have grunting sounds however as a change of mind it I didn't include them

roto scoping

what is roto-scoping ?  roto-scoping is a technique that you can use to animate moving objects or life by getting video footage and drawing over it in the same way as a frame by frame but with the object it is commonly used when they can't draw the movement in frame by frames

you start to roto-scope by getting a video and import it into flash
then you draw over the video in a new layer

then you delete the video

lastly to finish by adding colour

The advantages to rotoscoping are that movements are accurate and the image it self should have the correct size the entire time unless you change the brush size like I did and found out that it makes the quality decrease

The disadvantages:  rotoscoping takes a long time to produce the animation and it is mainly used to complete short clips that can't be done with out it because of the amount of time it takes and how tedious it is to animate with

overall opinion : My opinion I think it would be a bad idea to use a rotoscope for the final game trailer because it will take to long and miss the deadline but if there is enough time then it would turn out for a good 2-D animation of a game trailer

story board

Storyboard

this is my storyboard for my animation that I planed on making on flash it was going to be a frame by frame animation however half way though the production I found out that I didn't have the skill to produce the animation in the time that I had 3 weeks out of 5 of production i was only on the 2nd panel in the storyboard meaning i couldn't have finished it in time so I had to simplify my idea and I managed to complete it with sound however it doesn't capture much attention or interest of the audience
